RCB defeated MI by a convincing margin of 54 runs with the help of strong all-round performance from Glenn Maxwell and terrific bowling spell from Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel. Initially MI inivited RCB to bat first after winning the toss and they posted a good total of 165/6 with fifty-plus scores from Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. Bumrah was pick of the bowler for MI as he picked 3 important wickets of Padikkal, Maxwell and AB de Villiers.

MI chasing 166 gave a good start. Rohit was batting very well with Quinton de Kock in the powerplay but the tide changed for the Mumbai post the 10-over mark. None of the MI batters from number 3-11 posted a double digit score and collapsed totally. MI being from 79/2 ended up posting a total only 111 runs at the end of innings. Harshal Patel registered a hat-trick by picking the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar in 3 consecutive deliveries of the 17th over.
