Football is one of the most famous sports across the globe with so much fan following in all parts of the world. As a result, the players earn some mega contracts with most of them finishing themselves in the list of richest athletes. Unfortunately, the fact that they are financially well-off often puts them in danger with some shameless robbers and thieves trying to steal what the players have earned with so much dedication and hard work.

In recent times, footballers like Chris Smalling and Angel di Maria have become the victims of these disgraceful acts. And now, one more addition has been made to the list with English defender Reece James revealing the shocking turn of events that took place at his home when he was playing for Chelsea in their UCL match against Zenit at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

James' house get robbed by a group of thieves

The 21-year-old put an Instagram post where he told everyone that a group of thieves recently stormed into his house and stole his hard earned UCL 2020-21 winners medal, UEFA Super Cup 2021 winners medal and Euro 2020 runners-up medal.

"On the evening of the 14th of September 2021 when I was playing for my club in the return of the Champions League, a group of cowardly robbers broke into my house. They managed to collectively lift a heavy safe containing some personal items of mine into their car. I never keep any jewellery of mine in my house so all that was contained in the safe were my Champions League winners medal and Super Cup winners medal and the runners up medal for the Euro 2020," James stated.

He added, "These medals were won representing Chelsea and England - honours that can never be taken away from me whether or not I have the physical medals to prove it. Nevertheless, I am appealing to all my Chelsea and England fans to help identify and turn in these low life individuals who will never be able to rest easy as the evidence is mounting against them."

Footballer shares CCTV footage of the robbery

Reece James shared the CCTV footage which clearly shows that a group of people, who have covered themselves in white clothes, broke into his house and took away the safe. The 21-year-old added that the police, his advisers and Chelsea FC (and many others) are all behind him as they have firm leads on who the perpetrators are.

"We are closing in on them. Luckily, no one was present during the break in but I want to let all of you know I am safe and well. I really do appreciate having the platform to tell you all about my misfortune and I hope together we can catch these individuals and deliver justice where it is due," James concluded.

The fans would certainly hope that James can get justice and his well-deserved medals as soon as possible. The police are already investigating the case and with the evidence in hand, the culprits behind this shameful act might be caught very soon.
