The decades-old rivalry between India and Pakistan cricket teams will be revived during the upcoming Asia Cup and later in the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Australia. Both the teams met each other during last year’s T20 World Cup where Pakistan ended India’s winning streak over them in all World Cups.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played fine knocks at the top-order to remain unbeaten and outplayed Men in Blue in the league stage game. Pakistan ensured a historic victory by ten wickets in the ICC event. After the match, former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who was touring with the Indian team as a mentor met several Pakistan players and shared valuable insights about the game.
In a recent development, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, recently revealed an interesting anecdote involving his chat with the legendary Indian skipper. According to Rauf, he requested Dhoni to give him a CSK jersey instead of a team India one.
While speaking on a YouTube channel ‘The Grade Cricketer’ Haris Rauf said: “I met MS Dhoni after the game against India at the T20 World Cup last year. I asked him to give me one of his shirts. But I told him that I wanted a CSK jersey and not the team India one.” Rauf further shared that Dhoni promised him that he will surely send him the jersey. “I finally received it when I was in Australia,” he added.
The pacer also recalled his conversation with all-rounder Hardik Pandya wherein the latter boosted the confidence of the Pakistan pacer during India’s tour of Australia in 2018-19. He revealed that India’s team manager wanted some net bowlers who could bowl to the batter in Australia.
“I felt it would be a great opportunity for me to bowl to international cricketers. I bowled to the likes of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in the nets. Hardik was bowling alongside me and he told me that I was doing good and will soon play for the Pakistan team,” Haris Rauf said.
