The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday (August 2) confirmed that England will be touring the country for a seven-match T20I series in September-October. This will be a historic tour considering England will be playing in Pakistan after 17 long years. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and PCB had agreed for a tour last year as well but it was called off by the ECB for security reasons.

This creates a ruckus for PCB and the cricket fans in the country. Those who had booked tickets for these games in advance were left disappointed and called out to the ECB for the last-minute cancellation. PCB Chief Ramiz Raja had also expressed displeasure at the English cricket boardโ€™s decision. However, as the ECB has now finally agreed to tour Pakistan, the cricket board is excited which showed in their tweet on Tuesday.

The PCB shared the information of England touring Pakistan for seven T20Is and wrote โ€œSave the dates. Great news for fans as Pakistan are set to host England after 17 years!โ€

While many expressed happiness at the news some also remembered what happened last year. Iceland cricket too came out to warn fans about it and shared a tweet that seemed as a dig at PCB. โ€œAll fans should reserve accommodation based on ‘pay on arrival’ with a cancellation option up to the day before the game. These days, a tour is not a tour until it’s a tour,โ€ tweeted Iceland Cricket quoting PCBโ€™s above tweet.

As expected, Pakistan cricket fans did not like this and started bashing Iceland Cricket for their biased behavior. Such was the backlash that Iceland Cricket had to issue a clarification. They clarified that the dig was intended at ECB not PCB. โ€œThe fans certainly misinterpreted this Tweet. This one was about the likelihood of England cancelling a tour to Pakistan, just like they had done in 2021,โ€ they clarified.

Notably, England and Pakistan are all set to play seven T20Is starting on 20 September. The seven T20Is will be played across two cities- Karachi and Lahore. While Karachi will host first four games, Lahore will host the remaining three.
