Former England spinner Monty Panesar believes that wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant can be Team India's next captain in limited overs cricket. Notably, BCCI are yet to name India's new T20I captain after Virat Kohli announced that he won't continue as the skipper in T2OIs after the T20 World Cup.

Moreover, India's limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is likely to take over from Kohli after the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, Monty Panesar opined that Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant can also be good choice for captaincy in limited overs cricket. Monty Panesar said that the 24-year old has become a really good captain and even under pressure, one gets a MS Dhoni-like vibe from him.

Speaking on SportsTiger’s Post-match Live session after Bangalore vs Delhi clash, Monty Panesar said, "This Delhi team has got every base covered, they have been good at the death overs too as they have bowled some good yorkers and has made some good decision making. Rishabh Pant has become a really good captain and you can see that even under pressure, he has got a MS Dhoni about him. I can see him actually captaining the (Indian) T20 side one day."

"As Virat Kohli will step down as T20 captain after this World Cup, you can put Pant’s name in the hat and he can become the T20 captain of India after the World Cup itself as he has definitely shown credentials as captain," Monty added.

It’s easy to communicate with him so I’ve really been enjoying it,” Nortje commented. He also stated that both Shreyas Iyer and Pant, who have led DC in the past two seasons, have allowed the players to have some freedom at times.
