Although, Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the Test series against South Africa and possibilities of him leading the side in ODIs is also fading away due to injury concerns, the dynamic opener has something to cheer about as reportedly he has taken possession of 4-acre land bought in the name of his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, for 9 crores in Alibag, Mumbai.

Confirming the reports, Alibaug sub-registrar Sanjana Jadhav was quoted as saying, "It is true that Rohit Sharma had come on Tuesday to our office in connection with a land deal. We can't confirm whether he bought the land or the person accompanying him."

But several reports have quoted a village sarpanch who has confirmed Rohit's purchase of 4 acres of land which has a market value of INR 9 crores. "Rohit bought the land in the name of his wife. He completed the registration formalities at the sub-registrar's office and performed a small puja," sarpanch was quoted as saying.

Notably, several cricketing stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri all have properties in the picturesque coastal town in South Mumbai.

Meanwhile, on the cricketing front, Rohit Sharma has been trusted with ODI captaincy recently, replacing Virat Kohli. However, the transition has given birth to numerous controversies,  primarily a fresh rift between Kohli and BCCI President.
