Mumbai Indians survived a major injury scare during their nail-biting contest against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday. With KKR needing 49 runs off 42 deliveries, there were two left-handed batsmen on the crease in the form of Nitish Rana and Shakib Al Hasan. As Mumbai had no off-spinners in their side, skipper Rohit Sharma decided to introduce himself to the bowling attack.

Rohit twists his ankle

As the 33-year-old got ready to bowl the first delivery, he twisted his ankle which looked very scary in the first view. Sharma looked in a lot of discomfort as physios came out to the field to look at the injury.

However, much to the delight of all the cricket fans, Hitman recovered and was fine enough to continue bowling. The off-spinner almost took the wicket off his first delivery as Shakib Al Hasan tried to cut the ball and under-edged it. The ball narrowly missed the stumps and raced away to the boundary. Sharma bowled a decent over after that and only conceded five runs off the next four deliveries.

Interestingly, Mumbai made their way back into the contest after that over as Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya took key wickets to make it a nail-biting thriller in Chennai.
