India put a dominating performance on Day 1 of the ongoing pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad. The duo stitched 64 runs for the third wicket to keep hosts in the driver's seat.

India bowl out England for 112

Despite winning the toss and opting to bat first, Joe Root and company failed to withstand the India attack. The spin duo of Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin ran through England's batting order, picking 9 wickets among them. While Axar grabbed a 6-fer, Ashwin had three victims to his name. Meanwhile, the first blood of the innings was drawn by Ishant Sharma, who is playing his 100th Test match.

Rohit & Kohli steady Indian innings

Having some sort of luck on their side, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 31 runs before the latter fell prey to Jofra Archer at the score of 11. Tables soon turned in favour of England as Jack Leach caught Cheteshwar Pujara plumb in front of the sticks for a duck in the very next over. The game opened for the guests but Kohli and Rohit prevented any further damage. However, a wrong selection of shot saw the Indian skipper eventually falling to leach on last over of the day but by then he had already added 64 runs with Rohit to bring India back in the game. Rohit will resume the innings on Day 2 with Ajinkya Rahane (1).
