India and Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has praised Rohit Sharma in his short stint as captain of the Indian team. Siraj talked about how Sharma tends to motivate the bowlers in difficult situations and often has a plan B when they are in crunch situations.

“Rohit understands the mental state of a player. Whenever we have a tough time out there on the field, he is the one who comes up with a plan B and motivates the bowlers to do better in the game. It’s a great feeling to work under a captain who understands you so well”, Siraj said.

Siraj in the same interview, also addressed how he is preparing for the remaining fifth Test against  England in Lords. He said, “Right now, we have some time before we play the Test against England so for now, I would be training at the ground near my house and working on my fitness, as jumping from T20 to Test is a big change. To bowl those long spells in Test cricket, I really need to focus on my consistency, and it will be my only goal.”

Rohit Sharma has been one of the best captains in the IPL before he received the captaincy role of the national team. Even in this season of the tournament, where the Mumbai Indians were the worst team, his teammates have praised Sharma for his leadership.

MI all-rounder Tim David talked about how Sharma helped him play in Indian conditions. He said, “I have played only 2 games with Rohit, so I’m still getting used to playing with him. Getting used to playing with a lot of guys in the team. But we will find our feet as a team and start playing better as a team as the tournament goes on.”

“It’s been good so far. The advice has been to just go out there and play best to help the team. Again same, just about preparing to play in the Indian conditions. Learning that comes up in the IPL with different players, and how my skills can be best suited to play in games.”
