Belgian footballer Romelu Lukaku's transfer from Inter Milan to Chelsea has been making headlines. And why should it not? He has been Inter Milan's best player with 64 goals in 95 appearances for them. But with financial woes taking a toll on the Nerazzurri, they had no options other than to let their best asset go. Chelsea is more than just happy to include Lukaku in their team and plug in all the holes. But as said, it was neither easy for Inter Milan to agree to this transfer nor for the player himself.

Romelu Lukaku's agent has made some serious revelations after the transfer was successfully completed. Federico Pastorello has said that he and his family received threats while he was working on the striker's Chelsea move. “Many of those who today insult me and threaten me, thanked me wholeheartedly for bringing him to Milan. I have always accepted - and will continue to do so - confrontation and constructive criticism: they are part of the game for those who play a role with considerable media relevance,” he said.

Pastorello added that it's disheartening to be insulted and such behaviour is intolerable. “What we absolutely cannot tolerate are the falsehoods, insinuations, insults and threats we have received (also against my family and my daughters), which have far exceeded the limits of civilization, decency and tolerance,” he added.

Lukaku also did not want to go

Pastorello further talked about the historic deal and what happened behind the curtains. He revealed that Lukaku was also reluctant to leave and was happy with the Italian champions. “Believe it or not, the supporters' affection and the special bond with the city of Milan made him think about it for a long time; but then, once he made his decision, he carried on with conviction and firmness,” Pastorello said.

Chelsea have welcomed Lukaku for his second spell at the club as they signed him for €98 million on a five-year term and are elated at this move. Their director Marina Granovskaia revealed his plans for the Belgian. “Romalu Lukaku is quite simply one of the world's best strikers and goalscorers. We are absolutely delighted to be bringing him back to the club he loves, and are excited to be adding his talent to our Champions League-winning squad,” he said.
