Team India's next assignment is against New Zealand and the series is scheduled to start on November 17. Indian opener Rohit Sharma is expected to take the charge of the Indian cricket team in the three T20 Internationals against New Zealand.

According to sources, BCCI is likely to rest the senior players for the series and might give chance to some news faces. Chennai Super Kings opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Harshal Patel are likely to get included in the squad for the limited-overs series. Both the players were in exceptional form in the second leg of IPL 2021 and are likely to get the chance. Notably, Gaikwad has been in terrific form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who was a find for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPl 2021, is also likely to make his debut in the series.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) fast bowling sensation Umran Malik might also get a place in the squad. The pacer was included as a net bowler in the T20 World Cup.

The report also added that key campaigners Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya are likely to be dropped for the T20I series against the Kiwis.

The likes of Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar may all be back for the T20 series.
