Sanju Samson hints at donning CSK colours

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been in and out of the senior Indian team due to his inconsistency. Even in the Indian Premier League, while he has played some splendid innings, he has not been able to maintain the kind of consistency expected at the international level. However, he seems to be working on the same flaw and did have a commendable season in IPL 2021.

While he could not lead his franchise to the Playoffs in this edition of the tournament, the players are all set to get jumbled up next year with the mega auctions coming up as well as two new teams - Lucknow and Ahmedabad - entering the auction room. And now reports suggest that while he was at the helm of affairs with the Rajasthan-based franchise this year, he could be donning Chennai Super Kings colours next season. This is being speculated after Samson unfollowed Rajasthan Royals on their social media page while following Chennai Super Kings.

Sanju Samson's improved show in IPL 2021

The Men in Yellow might be looking for a wicketkeeper batter with MS Dhoni at the twilight of his career and Samson could be a good bet. A report carried by Onmanorama also suggests the same that Samson could well be seen in Chennai colours next years.

However, only time will tell whether such reports have any validity or not. Although it was hoped that Samson at the helm will revive RR's fortunes, nothing like that has happened yet and they failed to get going as a team again. But personally, the wicketkeeper batter was impressive, accumulating 484 runs in 14 games at a healthy average of 40.33.

Still I haven't left: MS Dhoni

While some reports continue to mull over MS Dhoni's future in IPL, he did not give a clear answer at the post-match presentation of IPL 2021 final which was clinched by Chennai themselves. Dhoni said that the CSK team management needed to decide whether they can build a core group keeping in mind the next 10 years. When broadcaster Harsha Bhogle proceeded to congratulate him on the great legacy he is leaving behind at CSK, MSD chipped in with a cheeky smile as he replied, "Still I haven't left behind."
