Mumbai Indians could not live up to the expectations in the recently concluded 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. Five-time champions became the first team to get eliminated from the league after delivering poor performances in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Daniel Sams has recently opened up about his experience in competing in IPL 2022.
Sams recently shared that he took away a lot of positives from the season and showed confidence that Mumbai will do well in the future. In an interview with MI, Sams said, “We had some good time in the camp. We haven’t performed well the way we wanted, but we know we have the right potential in the camp.”
Adding further, Sams stated that it was not an ideal season for the franchise but a necessary one. “Skills and execution are foremost. But mental strength stands above all. And the season has helped me to build one more layer above that. There were challenges that I have overcome in the tournament. And the experience will surely help me in future,” he added.
The video of Sams’ interview was shared by the Mumbai franchise on their official Twitter handle.
"The whole #MumbaiIndians environment has been helpful in building a cricketer and a person." 💪

The 29-year-old all-rounder further added that this season was challenging for the MI, which helped him understand the game well. He also hailed head coach Mahela Jayawardane for being ‘so supportive’ and assisting the players in coping with the tough times.
“I used to always chat with Mahela and ask him what his process was to bounce back from the low phase. He is a great guy to guide and help us understand the situation”, the Australian all-rounder said.
Notably, Sams had a rollercoaster season with MI, whereas he picked 13-wickets in 11 games and scored just 38 runs in 10 innings. He was awarded Player of the Match for his excellent bowling performance against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he scalped three wickets and gave away just 16 runs.
