Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is having a dismal run in the international cricket which has led him to take a one month break ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup. But the Team India selectors reportedly want the star batter to cut short his break and play against Zimbabwe.

Virat Kohli has taken a break from international cricket and has moved to Paris with wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika. The 33-year-old batter is expected to join the Men in Blue for Asia Cup 2022 which is likely to take place in UAE instead of Sri Lanka.

As per a report in InsideSport, the Indian selectors want the former skipper to return for the Zimbabwe tour before the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup to regain his form. India will play a three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe starting from August 18 with Shikhar Dhawan leading the young Indian side.

"Hopefully, the break allows him to rejuvenate mentally and get his form back. But without any competitive cricket, it will be difficult and that is why we want him to play against Zimbabwe. It’s his preferred format and will help him regain his form before the Asia Cup. We will take a final decision close to the selection," a selector told InsideSport.
