Sri Lanka scripted a historic win against the number one Test team Australia in the second and final Test at Galle International Stadium in Galle. The home team was carried over the finish line by debutant Prabath Jayasuriya’s 10-wicket-haul and Dinesh Chandimal’s double century.
But what also helped the Lankans was the big Aussie batting collapse in the second innings, where the visitors folded for just 151 runs in 41 overs. In this poor batting display, a lot of blame was targeted towards Steve Smith for his review after being plumb in front of the stumps. Jayasuriya sent out a slightly turning delivery which hit Smith on the back pad.
Fans on social media platforms were quick to call out this blunder and also deemed the review by Steve Smith as one of the worst reviews in Test cricket. The netizens also went on to call Smith selfish for opting for the DRS despite being clearly out.

@stevesmith49 selfish, arrogant review. Fact!

That shocking review from Steve Smith is the direct result of Marnus and Steve never thinking they’re out in the nets.
Humorous seeing this type of vision in the nets but baffling when wasting a review out in the middle ?#SLvAUS

Selfish review from @stevesmith49 As plumb as they come. After his carry on in the 1st test then that review, he’s becoming unlikeable. It’s all about him. #itsateamgame #AUSvSL

Steve Smith with quite possibly one of the most selfish reviews of all time

Steve Smith was jealous his boss Pat Cummins would win a series in the same place he got whitewashed 5 years ago. Hence he didn't help Cummins with the reviews and even got a flamboyant 4 ball duck in the ultra crucial 4th innings.

There’s people living in the shadows of Machu Picchu who’ve never seen a cricket ball bowled who would’ve identified that as plumb. Steve Smith somehow didn’t. A desperate and selfish review. #AUSvSL

I’ve defended Steve Smith whilst others haven’t, but that’s an incredibly selfish review.

One of the worst reviews you’ll see there from Steve Smith. Aussies in big trouble, Sri Lanka in the box seat to level the series 1-1 #slvaus

That was a selfish review by a selfish cricketer. Marnus knew right away that it was plumb from his body language, but he also knew that it was futile telling that to Steve Smith, who wasn’t having it anyway. Can’t believe this guy captained the country. #SLvAUS

That’s the most selfish review I have ever seen by Steve Smith. @9_Moley

Saw the Replay. That Steve Smith Review was Unbelievably Selfish. If Cummins isn't afraid to assert dominance in the Change Room, he needs to hand out Belt Treatment to Smith for this. #SLvAUS

Did Steve Smith think the ball was going between the stumps? Quite possibly the worst review ever #cricket
