Odisha-born Olympian Dutee Chand Sunday made a shocking revelation by saying that she was ragged by her seniors during her stay at the Sports Hostel in Bhubaneswar during 2006-08. Chand opened up about this incident after a piece of news that addressed the suicide of a BJB Autonomous College girl student due to ragging on Saturday.

A 19-year-old student reportedly passed away after committing suicide in her hostel. The girl, who was a first-year student of Plus-III Arts with History honours, was found hanging inside her room in the ladies’ hostel, as per the Deputy Commissioner of Police Prateek Singh.

The police found a suicide note in the room, where the girl had said she was mentally harassed by three seniors of the college. However, she did not name anyone and it is not known whether the three are boarders of the hostel.

Dutee Chand talked about how her seniors also made adverse comments about her financial situation, in a social media post. She then opened up about her complaints were never given due attention by the authorities. Chand said, "Didis (seniors) used to force me to massage their bodies and wash their clothes at the Sports Hostel. When I used to complain to the hostel in-charge, I used to be scolded. It used to take a mental toll on me. I was helpless at that time," the Olympian said.

Chand will now be taking part in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she is hopeful about India winning some medals on the basis of their ability. She said, "We have Qosanov Memorial, a World Athletics Continental Tour event, coming up in Kazakhstan on June 25-26. If I perform well there, I guess can still get a chance to compete in 100 metres at the CWG."

Dutee then talked about how the 100m or 4x100m relay, events are not going to be easy at CWG because of the several European countries and Jamaica. She said, "There will be many European countries and above all, the Jamaicans will be there, and they will be a threat to all."
