In a big blow to Barcelona, striker Sergio Aguero has been sidelined for at least three months due to chest problems. Notably, the Argentine footballer had been taken to the hospital after complaining of dizziness midway during his team's 1-1 draw with Alaves on Saturday.
In an official statement, it was reported that he is currently receiving treatment although a final date of his possible comeback was not mentioned anywhere.
"The first team player Sergio Aguero has been subjected to a diagnostic and therapeutic process by Dr. Josep Brugada. He is unavailable for selection and during the next three months the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process," FC Barcelona said in an official statement on their website.
During the La Liga encounter between Barcelona and Alaves on Saturday, the 33-year-old walked off the ground late in the first half as a precautionary measure. The striker had to walk off the field with chest discomfort around the 40th minute of the Spanish league encounter.
After a quick health assessment from the Barcelona medical staff, he left the match and was substituted by Philippe Coutinho. A report carried by the Goal confirms that Aguero had left the stadium in an ambulance and all medical protocols were followed.
As it is, the Spanish giants are going through a tough time. While they were unable to keep their biggest star and legend Lionel Messi before the season, they are far away from the title race so far languishing at the ninth spot in the points table with 16 points from 11 matches.
Meanwhile, it is also being reported that Barcelona's Gerard Pique also has a right calf strain and will not be available for selection in at least the coming to few matches. He also had to leave the pitch in the 70th minute of the 1-1 draw against Alaves.
As of now, the Blaugrana are set to travel to play Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday for the fourth round of Champions League group stage matches, before travelling to Vigo for La Liga encounter against Celta.
