Red Bull driver Sergio Perez achieved his maiden pole during the recently concluded Monaco Grand Prix 2022. Perez was at his best during the race as he started in third place but took over the early lead and held onto it till his third career win. The Mexican driver is third in the F1 drivers' standings behind defending champion and teammate Max Verstappen and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

In the latest development, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that the 32-year-old driver was rewarded with a brand new two-year contract by Red Bull before the Monaco GP. While speaking to Austrian outlet OE24, Marko said, "We offered him a contract extension on Friday. He was extra motivated after this. We feel amazing to have great pair of drivers. We have already recorded five wins this year."

After getting a contract extension, the Monaco champion confessed that he had an incredible week, and is extremely proud to continue with the team until 2024. Earlier, Perez confirmed that he got the contract extension after winning the race and reportedly informed that the development made him 'extremely happy.'

Adding further, Perez confessed that he is sharing great repo with Max Verstappen, 'on and off the track', and it's helping him to perform better. "We have tremendous momentum as a team, and the ongoing season is the testimony of that; I am really excited to see where that can take us all in the future," he concluded.

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner also hailed the driver and said that he has proved his association with his magnificent performances. "Time and again, Perez has proved himself to be a worthy team player, but as he gets more comfortable, he becomes a real force to be reckoned with:, he stated.

Even Perez's teammate and reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen showed confidence in the current Monaco GP winner and stated, "We must appreciate someone when they perform well, and I believe that's very important as it shows that we respect each other."
