The rising cases of Omicron variant COVID-19 have started to cause a panic in the country and it seems like filmmakers also do not want to take any risk. Keeping the rise of COVID cases in mind, the release date of Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey has been postponed. The sports drama was set to release on December 31. However, the makers have decided to postpone the release as of now. Notably, the new release date hasn't been announced yet.

“In view of the current circumstances and new Covid guidelines, we have decided to postpone the theatrical release of our film Jersey. We have received immense love from you all so far and want to thank you all for everything. Until then everyone please stay safe and healthy, and wishing you all the best for the new year ahead!! Team Jersey!!”, the statement issued by makers read.

Delhi issues yellow alert, cinema halls to remain closed

Due to rising cases of Omicron variant in the capital city, the Delhi government issued a yellow alert and issued an order to close schools, gyms, and cinema halls.

“COVID19 restrictions under Yellow alert of Graded Response Action Plan in Delhi: Night curfew 10 pm-5 am, Delhi Metro, restaurants, bars to operate at 50 per cent capacity; Cinema halls, spas, gyms, multiplexes, banquet halls, auditoriums, and sports complexes to be closed with immediate effect," read the order.
