Punjab Kings all-rounder Shahrukh Khan has been appointed the skipper of Tamil Nadu Premier League franchise Lyca Kovai Kings for the 2021 edition. The franchise gave the update in a press release, which was shared on social media on Wednesday evening. Notably, Shahrukh Khan had an impressive start to life at Punjab Kings as he smashed a 36-ball 47 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021.

The hard-hitting batsman, who also bowls off-spin, will now lead Lyca Kovai Kings in TNPL 2021, tentatively scheduled to start from July 19. Shahrukh was also a part of the victorious Tamil Nadu team which won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.

Here's the official announcement:

"It was a unanimous decision by the Lyca management in the UK to appoint Shahrukh Khan as captain for the season," the franchise revealed in the press release. The Lyca Kovai Kings squad also contains notable names like team India pacer T. Natarajan and Tamil Nadu all-rounder Abhishek Tanwar.

Punjab Kings had spent ₹5.25 crore to sign uncapped Shahrukh Khan at IPL Auction 2021. The Mohali-based franchise had acquired Khan after an intense bidding war with the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL Auction 2021.
