Australian legend Shane Warne on Wednesday slammed off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for a ‘disgraceful’ act during the Kolkata vs Delhi game in IPL 2021. Ashwin in the 19th over attempted a second run after the ball had hit Rishabh Pant’s bat and deflected off it. In the final over, when the off-spinner was dismissed, pacer Tim Southee and Eoin Morgan said few words to Ashwin which agitated the latter.

Former Australia spinner Shane Warne on Wednesday took to Twitter to criticize Ashwin’s act. Warne called the off-spinner's act 'disgraceful' and said that “Morgan had every right to nail the Indian spinner”.

"The world shouldn't be divided on this topic and Ashwin. It's pretty simple – it's disgraceful & should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again? I think @Eoin16 had every right to nail him," Warne tweeted.

Ashwin had the last laugh in the game as in the second innings he got the KKR skipper on duck. Eoin Morgan, who has been struggling with the bat, edged Ashwin's delivery towards slips and departed on a 2-ball duck.

I was happy to be a peacemaker: DK

At the post-match conference, KKR wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik revealed the reason behind the altercation and explained how Morgan didn’t find Ashwin’s act within the spirit of cricket.

"I know that Rahul Tripathi threw the ball and it hit Rishabh Pant and then it ricocheted off it and Ashwin started to run. I do not think Eoin appreciates it; he is someone when the ball hits the batter, he expects them not to run because of the spirit of cricket," Karthik said.

He further added that he was happy to be a peacemaker between the duo as DK was the one who took Ashwin away from Morgan to calm things down.

Kolkata eventually won the match by 3 wickets as Nitish Rana’s patient knock along with Sunil Narine’s quick cameo at the end sealed the match for the franchise.
