Team India pacer Shardul Thakur is likely to miss the second Test against England, starting August 12 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The 29-year-old has notably suffered a hamstring injury while practicing ahead of the second Test. However, no official statement has been made on the same and the Indian board is likely to take a final call on this today.

With star Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin missing out on the playing XI for the first Test, is likely to replace Shardul in the second Test. The Men in Blue went with a 4-1 pace spin combination, with Ravindra Jadeja being that one spinner.

Stuart Broad likely to miss second Test against India

In the latest update from the England camp comes the news of star pacer Stuart Broad. The 35-year-old is likely to be ruled out of the second Test after injuring his right calf during the training. He is yet to undergo scans and his participation will further rely on the reports.

However, England have added off-spin all-rounder Moeen Ali into the ranks. He last played a Test match against India during the their tour of India earlier this year.

Having played 79 Tests so far, the veteran Indian spinner has scored 2685 runs registering five centuries and eleven half-centuries to his name. The 34-year-old was last seen playing for Surrey, where he registered figured of 6/27 in the seconding innings against Somerset.
