With the second wave of COVID-19 spreading like fire across the country, the situation is getting more and more gloomy with every passing hour. The pandemic has already claimed close to 200,000 people in India and from the last few days, there are over 300,000 new infections in India every day. Amid all this, KKR cricketer Sheldon Jackson has also made a contribution of an undisclosed amount to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation to help fight the dreaded infection.

Jackson took to social media to announce the decision, also urging everyone else to contribute to the nation's fight.

"In these difficult times for our beloved country, my heart goes out to everyone who is suffering," he wrote.

I pray that good times return sooner than later. I request you all to please follow the SOPs as directed by the authorities, please stay home as much as possible and wear your masks at all times when you step outside," he added.

"I have made a humble contribution towards the Gautam Gambhir Foundation (GGF) who are doing an excellent job in helping as many people as possible," the Bhavnagar born cricketer said.

"I urge you all to do the same and donate whatever amount you can to your trusted fund or organisation as every rupee counts in the fight against COVID-19. Please stay safe and stay healthy," he concluded.
