Rajasthan Royals batter Shimron Hetmyer has left the team’s camp in Mumbai for the birth of his first child. The 2008 champions released a statement confirming the news and posted a video on Instagram where all RR players see him off. The statement said, “Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child.”

“We are helping him in every way we can, and our best wishes are with him and his wife Nirvani. We look forward to Shimron then returning to Mumbai, and resuming duties at the Royals for the remainder of our matches in IPL 2022. All the best, Hettie. We can't wait to have you back, this time as a father!”

Hetmyer was part of the recent Rajasthan Royals fixture where they chased down a massive total of 189 with four balls to spare. The West Indian power-hitter was pivotal in the chase as he smashed 31 runs from 16 balls with three fours and two sixes while batting at a strike rate of 193.75. In the last over itself, Hetmyer hit a blistering six to leave the score and then sealed the victory with a single.

“To be honest, I didn't know I'll be the Man of the Match,” Jaiswal

But the Player of the Match award was given to Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored 68 runs in 41balls with nine fours and two sixes. During the post-match interview, he dedicated this innings to his mentor Zubin Bharucha, who helped in difficult times. He said, “To be honest, I didn't know I'll be the Man of the Match. It's an amazing feeling whenever I go and bat, with all my pride I go and bat.”

“(Favourite shot) I think the one I hit Rahul Chahar over the covers. I just tried to keep it simple - good cricketing shots. I want to dedicate this innings to Zubin sir (Zubin Bharucha). He has helped me a lot during all the times, whenever I was sitting with him when I was down. He has been pushing me always. It's been a pleasure to perform like this. He has motivated me a lot, pushing me every day like 'you can do it, you'll do it, just keep working hard.' I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, I'll try my best.”
