Just a few days earlier, Rajasthan Royals had confirmed that they have released Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube from their camp. The duo was all set to travel with Mumbai's state squad for their upcoming tour of Oman. The franchise was thinking of this as a perfect opportunity for two of their players to get sufficient match practice in those conditions ahead of IPL 2021 resumption in UAE.

However, it has now been revealed that things haven't really gone according to the plan for RR. Shivam Dube's plans of traveling to Oman with Mumbai has been cancelled with the all-rounder suffering from back spasm. The state side has decided to replace him with Akash Parkar for the tour which will see Mumbai locking horns with Oman in 3 one dayers and 3 T20 matches each.

Mumbai's revised 14-member squad for Oman tour

With Oman tour being the first major assignment for newly-appointed coach Amol Muzumdar, the Mumbai veteran is ensuring that he has all players fit and available for the six matches. This is why Shivam Dube has been left out considering his injury concerns. The revised 14-member squad for Mumbai is as follows:

Shams Mulani (captain), Aakarshit Gomel, Hardik Tamore, Arman Jaffer, Chinmay Sutar, Akash Parkar, Aman Khan, Sujit Naik, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shashank Attarde, Mohit Awasthi, Sairaj Patil, Deepak Shetty and Dhurmil Matkar

No official information yet on Dube's injury status

There is currently no official information given by the medical team of Rajasthan Royals regarding the injury status of Shivam Dube. However, having missed out on Oman tour, the all-rounder is expected to join the franchise and leave for UAE with the team, reportedly on September 2. Dube will be working on his fitness with the IPL franchise and will be hoping for a speedy recovery.

With so many star players unavailable for Rajasthan, they would be hoping to have Shivam Dube available for selection as early as possible. Notably, the 28-year-old played 6 (out of 7) matches for RR in first half of the season, scoring 145 runs. Although he would be hoping to recover in next few weeks, back spasm can sometimes take extra time to heal which could force the all-rounder to miss the first couple of games for RR in UAE.
