After Shreyas Iyer got ruled out of the ongoing three-match ODI series against England, there were obvious doubts of his participation in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The star Indian batsman suffered shoulder dislocation while fielding in the first ODI on Tuesday. However, an official statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to give official statement.
Seeing his injury during the match, commentators spoke on him being out of action for 4-6 weeks minimum. Reports after the scans confirmed a tear, which might force him to go for a surgery, thus being out of action for a little longer, along with IPL 2021.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal confirmed this news on Twitter. With this confirmation, fans of the franchise will be keen to know who will lead the side in IPL 2021.
Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 – stay strong captain – hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup. @DelhiCapitals @BCCI

Suryakumar Yadav likely to make ODI debut on Friday
With Iyer being ruled out of the remaining two ODI matches against England, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to replace him in the ODI squad. India is leading the three-match ODI series 1-0 after registering a 66-run win in the first match. The second ODI will take place on Friday in Pune.
