After successful completion of the Malaysian Open and Malaysian Masters, the 2022 BWF World Tour now moves to Singapore for the 2022 Singapore Open scheduled to take place from 12-17 July. The BWF Super 500 tournament is all set to feature top shuttlers from around the globe including India’s ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth.

Returning to the BWF World tour after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Singapore Open will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The six-day tournament will start with the qualification and first-round matches on July 12 and July 13 followed by the second round, quarterfinals, and semifinal with the final concluding the badminton tournament on Sunday (July 17).

Being the second last tournament before the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, the shuttler will be eager to take part in the event and get the desired momentum before the mega event. A total of 88 singles players and 108 doubles teams from across the globe, including as many as 12 singles players and 8 doubles pairs from India will be in action at the event.

Indians in action

Indian shuttlers will be led by two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and in-form HS Prannoy at the Singapore Open Super 500 Tournament beginning on Tuesday. Sindhu (3) and Kidambi Srikanth (7), who are the only seeded Indians in the main draw of the men's and women's singles competition, have been handed easy draws.

While World No. 7 Sindhu, who will open her campaign against lowly-ranked Lianne Tan of Belgium, Srikanth opens his campaign against a qualifier.

Veteran shuttler Saina Nehwal will begin her campaign against compatriot Malvika Bansod while HS Prannoy opens his campaign against Thailand's Sitthikom Thammasin. P Kashyap will have the tough challenge of fifth seed Jonatan Christie in his first round. There will also be Sameer Verma who will take on China's unseeded Li Shi Feng in the first round.
