After securing only one win in four matches, it looks like Rajasthan Royals are finally taking a step to fill in the gaps left by the absence of Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone. The franchise are notably looking to sign a South African batsman who has been in scintillating touch in the last few months.

Rassie van der Dussen likely to join RR

The 32-year-old batsman is expected to join the franchise after he passes the fitness test. Notably, Rassie van der Dussen was also a part of IPL 2021 auction with a base price of INR 50 Lakh but went unsold.

Is the Protean a solution to RR problems?

Rassie van der Dussen has emerged as one of the most technically-sound batsman in international cricket in the last one year. The 32-year-old will undoubtedly add some stability to the RR batting line-up which has succumbed to collapses on a regular basis. The right-handed batsman can anchor the innings to perfection and can be a perfect option to play at No. 3. It can also allow Sanju Samson to bat at top of the order, alongside Jos Buttler making it a deadly opening combination.

The South African has played 20 T20Is in his career so far. He has amassed 628 runs at a scintillating average of 41.9. To add to the impressive stats, the right-handed batsman also has a dazzling strike-rate of 138.6. If everything goes well and Van der Dussen joins RR, he could be the missing piece in the puzzle for the franchise as they look to turnaround their season.
