The player availability issues owing to injury concerns and players pulling out of the tournament amid the COVID-19 surge in India has hit the Rajasthan Royals most. In fact some of their key players in Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes were already not available to them when Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone decided to head back amid the COVID-19 surge in India. However, finally they have received some reinforcements as South African cricketer Rassie van der Dussen has reached India for the ongoing IPL 2021.

It is being reported that although Van Der Dussen has joined the Rajasthan camp he has not yet completed his quarantine period. The 32-year-old hasn't played a single IPL match but has an excellent record in T20I cricket. In 20 matches for the Proteas, he has scored 628 runs at an impressive average of 41.87.

RR off to a poor start in IPL 2021

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals have got off to a poor start in IPL 2021. In the five competed matches so far, they have only won two matches and due to an inferior net run rate find themselves placed seventh. They are currently competing against the Mumbai Indians in Delhi where they would look to get the two points and take the campaign forward under new captain Sanju Samson.
