Delhi Capitals are currently in a precarious stage in the ongoing 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. After losing five out of eleven games in the tournament, the Delhi franchise is in a must-win situation where they can’t afford a single loss. Delhi batter Rovman Powell will have a huge responsibility in the middle-order when Delhi takes on in-form Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday evening at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Powell revealed a hilarious incident which set the foundation for his maiden IPL journey. While speaking at Delhi Capitals’ podcast, Powell revealed that he had to spend 2-3 days “in a towel” after landing in Mumbai.

“When I landed in Mumbai, I was told that the airline didn’t have any of my bags. The only thing I had with me was my hand baggage when I left the airport. I didn’t have any extra clothes with me, so I spent 2-3 days in a towel in my hotel room,” Powell revealed.

The Caribbean batter also hailed the franchise for making him feel at home.

“We are playing away from home. At times, it gets difficult for us to keep the momentum, but then the franchise has also taken care of that. And all the players have become like a family member,” he added.

Powell is also highly impressed with Rishabh Pant’s leadership skills as the middle-order batter believes that Pant has all the aspects in himself to lead the side. “He is a perfect leader. He always backs players and suggests they trust their own abilities,” said Powell.

The Delhi batter also shared that while competing against Pant during national duties, he used to brainstorm over how to put a brake on Pant’s cricketing prowess but playing under his leadership is a thrilling and exciting experience.

“Rishabh Pant is someone we brainstorm over in the Caribbean because he can change the game anytime. Whenever we play against him (in international cricket), we hold meetings to discuss how to curtail his cricketing prowess and how to keep him quiet,” Powell concluded.
