Sri Lanka Cricket has announced a 15-member women's T20I squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, England. There will be four absentees from the 19-member squad Sri Lanka played against Indian in the recently concluded T20I series.

Sathya Sandeepani, Kaushani Nuthyangana, Hansima Karunaratne, and Tharika Sewwandi have been left out from the Sri Lankan squad that played in the India T20I series.

Sri Lanka opener Chamari Athapaththu is named the captain of the team for the 10-day tournament. A total of 16 matches including final will be played in the tournament with all teams playing three matches before the semifinals stage.

Chamari Athapaththu (C), Hasini Perera, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Vishmi Gunaratne, Malsha Shehani, Nilakshi de Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Ama Kanchana, Achini Kulasuriya, Inoka Ranaweera, Udeshika Prabodhani, Sugandika Kumari, Rashmi de Silva, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Anushka Sanjeewani

This will be the first time when cricket is included in the multi-sports event after a List A men's tournament in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. India will play Australia in the opening match of the T20 cricket tournament in Birmingham 2022 on July 29.

Sri Lanka, who are in the Group B alongside England, New Zealand, and South Africa, will kick-off their tournament against hosts England on July 30 in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
