Preview:

The Indian women’s team registered a clinical win in the first match against Sri Lanka as they capped off an incredible team effort. The batters managed to post a decent total of 138 with crucial knocks by Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma. Then in the second innings, bowlers like Radha Yadav and Pooja Vastrakar picked up key wickets to defend the total and register a 34-run victory.

Pitch Report:

The pitch in Dambulla lived up to its reputation of being a slow bowling-friendly pitch which leads to lower batting scores. In all the ODI games played here, only thrice teams have been able to score 300 runs in an innings as the average first innings score is around 216. The spinners from both sides could have a field day.

Analysis:

India had a great display in the first game of the series as most of their players had a great game. Harmanpreet Kaur led the team well along with putting up a decent performance. Similarly, Shafali Varma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav and Pooja Vastrakar also played their roles to perfection.

Whereas the Lankans had a silver lining in their disappointing loss in the first T20I. Their captain Chamari Athapaththu played well in both the batting and bowling departments as she bowled two overs and took one wicket while scoring 16 runs. Whereas the host had the two top performers in Kavisha Dilhari who scored 47 runs and Inoka Ranaweera who picked up three wickets.

Conclusion:

After a clinical game one performance, the Indians would want to seal the series in the second match. Their batting lineup stars some of the top batters in the world along with a slow bowling attack that has combined to pick up wickets, especially in spin-friendly conditions making them the favourites to win the game.
