ESPN long-time commentator Stephen A. Smith is fed up with the talks he has been getting about Colin Kaepernick's comeback to NFL. Smith says he is sick of the conversation around Kaepernick's potential comeback and also called it "utter nonsense".

Speaking on ESPN's talk-show First Take, Smith said that Colin Kaepernick was mistreated and should not have been out of NFL in the first place. "I want to make sure I’m very, very clear about this because this has gotten on my last nerve and I’m going to put this to bed once and for all. Colin Kaepernick was black-balled. Colin Kaepernick was mistreated. Colin Kaepernick should be in the NFL. Colin Kaepernick should have never been out of the NFL. He violated no laws. He violated no NFL bylaws," Smith said. "He got screwed over. Period.

Smith further put focus on what transpired between Colin Kaepernick and NFL and how things got ugly. He also emphasized that the trust issue between Kaepernick and NFL is not going to work in the player's favour. Smith, however, showed faith in Colin's abilities and said he would win it for his team despite not being in the scenes for five years.

"My brother, you ain’t played in five years. We don’t know what you can do but we still believe in you. I believe Colin Kaepernick could be on an NFL team right now and help a team despite being gone for five years because I think he’s that gifted," he said.

Notably, Kaepernick had said in a recent podcast interview that he "absolutely" wants to play in the NFL again and is even willing to return to the league as a backup quarterback if that helps his comeback chances. "I know I have to find my way back in. So yeah. If I have to come in as a backup, that’s fine.

"But that’s not where I’m staying. And when I prove that I’m a starter, I want to be able to step on the field as such. I just need that opportunity to walk through the door," Colin Kaepernick had said.
