After six long years of wait, gamers will soon be treated to the next installment of Street Fighter i.e. Street Fighter 6. Earlier this year, Capcom released a teaser for Street Fighter 6 on its official Street Fighter Youtube channel, which gave a glimpse of an older, but even more beefed-up Ryu. The under 40-second teaser had already created much-needed hype amongst gamers.

In the brief teaser, Ryu was seen in an iconic red headband and his white karate trousers. However, developers didn’t go with Ryu’s karate jacket in the latest update as his new look certainly raised many eyebrows. The characters unveiled so far include Ryu, Luke, Chun-Li, newcomer Jamie and Guile, but there are loads of exciting stuff which are yet to be released.

In a recent interview with IGN Japan, Shuhei Matsumoto and Takayuki Nakayama, the respective producer and directors for the upcoming version revealed that development for Street Fighter 6 started somewhere around 2018. “When it all began, Nakayama put together a 92-page proposal for the project. Game modes mentioned in this proposal included Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub,” said Shuhei Matsumoto.

As the Street Fighter franchise turns 35 this year and is ready for a big comeback, let’s take a look at every possible detail available in the public domain related to the upcoming version.

Release date:
Although there is no confirmation on the exact release date, Capcom has reportedly informed that fans can expect it to be soon.  During Sony’s June 2022 State of Play, the developer announced via a new trailer that Street Fighter 6 is coming summer of 2023.

As per reports, unlike Street Fighter 5, the new entry in this series will no longer be a console exclusive. Street Fighter 6 will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC simultaneously, which is great news for Xbox players in particular who missed out on the last entry.

Although there is hardly any murmuring from the organisers in terms of Street Fighter 6, there’s only one Street Fighter 6 trailer that shows an insanely buffed-up Ryu preparing to duel against a newcomer to the series, Luke. Several reports have claimed that fans might even get to see the return of characters like Chun-Li, Ken, and Cammy in the sixth installment of the series.

Latest leaks:
Update 30th May: A potential leak revealed that the first trailer for Street Fighter 6 will be revealed at the upcoming Playstation State of Play event. This event took place on Thursday 2nd June 2022.

Update 8th June: A massive leak revealed the whole roster of Street Fighter 6 shortly after Capcom‘s full announcement of the game.

Since we only have the window of summer 2023 to expect Street Fighter 6, no pre-orders are available yet.
