One of the greatest ambassadors of football in India, the captain of the men's national team, Sunil Chhetri is gearing up for life after retirement from professional sport. The Blue Tigers skipper has reportedly enrolled himself in the ISDE Law Business School to study global master's in sports management and legal skills.
From what is being reported, Chhetri is pursuing this course in the online mode on completion of which he will be awarded a master's or a postgraduate degree.
Furthermore, it is being learned that while the course fee for this particular programme happens to be 15000€ which is estimated to be over 12 lakh Indian Rupees, Chhetri has been awarded a 100 per cent scholarship. ISDE, which works in collaboration with FC Barcelona, has a partnership with FIFPRO, the worldwide organisation which represents professional footballers.
The report carried by Telegraph India confirms that Chhetri had applied through FIFPRO's India's arm- the Football Players Association of India of which he himself happens to be the vice-president.
The Telegraph report has suggested that Chhetri has enrolled in this course, keeping in mind his life after his stint as a player comes to an end. A source quoted in the report said that the 37-year-old only got time to think about his future while everyone was forced to remain indoors during the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.
Chhetri is already being seen expressing his views on various issues concerning the sport. The third-highest active goal-scorer in international men's football recently shared a clip in which can he be seen previewing the match between Chelsea and Arsenal.
