After Mitchell Marsh pulled out of IPL 2021 citing bubble fatigue, Sunrisers Hyderabad has found a replacement as well. The franchise has roped in a prominent England batsman, who did well in the just-concluded T20I series against India.

There were a few English players who impressed in the 5-match series in Ahmedabad. While the star players Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow are already a part of Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively, Eoin Morgan is the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders. World No. 1 batsman Dawid Malan was also bought by Punjab Kings. This leaves only one prominent English player who is still looking for an IPL franchise.

SRH rope in Jason Roy for IPL 2021

England's explosive opener Jason Roy is probably the only England batsman who does not have an IPL contract. The 30-year-old, who had registered himself at base price of INR 2 crore, surprisingly went unsold in the IPL 2021 auction held in February. However, Roy impressed everyone with his approach against the Indian bowlers in the T20I series, scoring 144 runs in 5 matches at a scintillating strike rate of 132.11.

The England batsman also has the experience of playing in the marquee tournament with Gujarat Lions in 2017 and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018. Roy has scored 179 runs in 8 appearances in IPL (in 2017 and 2018). With a spot now vacant in SRH side and not many quality players available, Roy could well be the perfect replacement considering his present form.
