There have been many stories in Indian cricket where a young player has credited a senior for his success. Kartik Tyagi, who has made a name for himself for his ability to bowl at an express pace heaped praise on his Uttar Pradesh teammate Suresh Raina for supporting him during the initial stage of his career. He also went on to call him a 'god'.

On his new IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad's website, Tyagi talked about how people started noticing him after he got to play for UP in the Ranji Trophy. He also revealed an instance where Suresh Raina complemented Kartik and promised him to bat for him in seasons ahead.

"Like I always say one thing, that after Under-16, Suresh Raina entered my life like a god because people started to recognise me when I was selected for Ranji Trophy. When I was 13, I participated in the Under-14 trials and this is where my cricketing journey began," Kartik said at first.

When I was at the Ranji camp, I was only 16 years of age while all the other players were quite senior. There I got a chance to bowl in the nets and Suresh Raina there noticed me. He said, 'I really liked your bowling and I'll make sure you get chances in the future'. After that shockingly my name was in the UP Ranji team and from there on my cricketing journey began," he added.

Notably, Kartik Tyagi burst out of the scene after his heroics at the U-19 World Cup. He was then roped in by Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. His last over where he defended 4 runs against Punjab Kings made him a household name. At the IPL 2022 Mega Action, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured the services of the young pacer for INR 4 Crores.
