India batter Suryakumar Yadav may be ruled out of action for longer than expected with an injury to his hand. The right-handed batter might not be seen in action for at least four weeks. This means that Yadav is likely to miss the South Africa T20I series, slated to be played next month.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, Yadav has sustained a serious injury to his left forearm which also ruled him out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and can potentially rule him out from a few games of the five-match T20I series against South Africa which will be played between May 9 and 19. “Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed that the middle-order batter will be out of action for at least four weeks,” Cricbuzz writes in its report.

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav was looking in fine touch in the eight games he played for Mumbai Indians. The right-handed batter amassed 303 runs with the help of three half-centuries. However, he could not play further as he took a blow on his left hand while taking a run in his team’s game against Gujarat Titans.

Suryakumar still to report to NCA

Although the 31-year-old has been released from the Mumbai Indians bubble, Yadav is yet to proceed to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation. He is rather staying in Mumbai for now and is expected to undergo a scan on Wednesday.

Big blow for India!
