Beleaguered Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, who is currently serving 9 days of judicial custody in the Sagar Rana murder case has filed an application at Delhi’s Rohini Court demanding protein-rich food along with supplements till the time he remains in jail. Earlier, a Delhi court on June 3 had rejected Delhi Police's plea for three more days of custodial interrogation for Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar. Instead, the court sent him to nine-day judicial custody. Sushil is facing charges of murder, culpable homicide, and kidnapping.
Sushil cites his Olympic achievements in application
Sushil’s counsel on Saturday moved the application in Delhi’s Rohini Court to allow the wrestler to have a high protein diet along with supplements till the time he is in jail. As per the application moved by Team Sushil Kumar, it states that Sushil Kumar is the only Indian to win two back-to-back Olympic medals in individual sport for the country. He won bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Silver in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Sushil Kumar’s success story is not confined only to Olympics as he has also won 3 consecutive gold medals in Commonwealth games.
'False Implication should not lead to end his career': Sushil’s application
“The false Implication should not lead to end his career and in order to continue his career, he seeks permission of this Court for special food and supplements,” added Sushil Kumar’s application which was submitted to the court. The application moved into the Delhi Court outlined Sushil's demand for improved diet and special supplements.
As per the application, Sushil consumes supplements like isolate whey protein, Omega 3 Capsules, Jointment Capsules, Pre-Workout C4 and Hyde, Multivitamin GNC, Exercises Bands, etc. The application also said that being a wrestler, it is necessary for Sushil Kumar to take a special nutrition diet. "Denial of this basic requirement will have a huge implication on career," the plea further mentioned.
