Sunrisers Hyderabad have been handed a major blow in their IPL 2021 campaign. After already losing Mitchell Marsh before the season, David Warner's side will now have their star pacer T Natarajan unavailable for the remainder of the tournament.

Natarajan ruled out of IPL 2021

The 30-year-old, who was left out from SRH side for the last two games, has notably aggravated his knee injury. During the last match, David Warner had commented on Natarjan's fitness. He had said, "He (Natarajan) has got a sore knee. Physios are analysing it. But he is got to have a scan at some point."

How did the injury aggravate?

Earlier this year, BCCI had requested Tamil Nadu to release Natarajan from their Vijay Hazare squad after he returned from Australia to give him some rest. The pacer had spent two months at the National Cricket Academy and returned to Indian side only for the last two T20Is against England. Although Tom Moody had also claimed that they had rested Natarajan to manage his work-load, there is no information about when the injury actually became so serious. Reflecting on the same, an official said, “We have not got the full report but we have been told that he (Natarajan) has developed a strain in the knee. He will have to undergo rehab in the NCA.”

While the franchise has not yet given an official statement on the same, it is being reported that BCCI has requested SRH to release the player. Natarajan might have to head back to National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to undergo a rehab from the injury.
