After performing brilliantly in the group stages, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh made their way to Super 12 and are now set to face each other in match 15 in Sharjah. Both the sides would be hoping to continue the winning momentum, setting up a perfect platform for a high-voltage contest on Sunday. There will be some big names on display on both sides of the camp, which is certain to assure entertainment for the cricket lovers.
The wicket at Sharjah has proven to be very challenging for the batsmen as it has been quite slow and sluggish. While the pacers have got some assistance with the new ball, the spinners can almost become unplayable at times in the middle overs. It is not easy to set a total at this venue and both the sides might look to chase on Sunday, with toss expected to play a crucial role.
Sri Lanka: Dasun Shanaka led side has looked a completely different unit in recent times since their impressive performances against India at home. They won all their three matches in the group stages and come to the Super 12 stage with some confidence. They have found different match-winners in different games and with an incredible spin duo of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana within their ranks, Sri Lanka would certainty have an edge over their opponents.
Bangladesh: Following their shocking defeat at the hands of Scotland in first group game, Bangladesh bounced back in some style to make their way through to Super 12. However, they have looked slightly over-dependent on Shakib Al Hasan which might be cause of concern for them against a team like Sri Lanka. Their top order has been quite inconsistent in the last few games and the opening duo of Mohammad Naim and Liton Das will need to step up in Sharjah.
Sri Lanka: Dasun Shanaka (c), Kusal Perera (wk), Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Chamika Karunaratne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Lahiru Kumara, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Akila Dananjaya, Binura Fernando
Bangladesh: Mahmudullah (c), Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (wk), Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Naim, Nasum Ahmed , Shoriful Islam, Shamim Hossain
Considering their recent performances and form of players, Sri Lanka will go into the contest as slight favourites. However, one just cannot deny the fact that Bangladesh are capable of pulling off a win but they will need to be at their absolute best in order to break the unbeaten streak of their opponents.
