As the cricketing world gets ready for the 2022 T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the date for submission of squads for T20 WC. According to various reports, ICC has instructed all the boards to submit their 15-member squad by 15 September.

This date gives the head coach Rahul Dravid and Chetan Sharma-led selection committee four more series to build the perfect squad for the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue will first face Ireland in a two-game T20I series starting from 26 June.

Then India will take on England in a three-match starting from 7 July to 10 July. Then India will play three T20Is against the West Indies from 29 July to 2 August. The 2007 T20 World Cup winners will then play in the Asia Cup T20 that will begin on 27 August.

Suryakumar Yadav has already proved his worth beyond any doubt: Manjrekar

Similarly, cricketing experts have already started speculating about the selection of the team for the upcoming ICC tournament. Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed that he feels Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has confirmed his place in the side for the World Cup.

Manjrekar said, “I think he has already confirmed his ticket to Australia. We have seen a lull in a lot of players’ performances, Rishabh Pant for example, but I doubt whether they will drop him for that big ticket to Australia. So Suryakumar Yadav has already proved his worth beyond any doubt. So injury notwithstanding, I see him having that one seat confirmed on that flight to Australia.”

I think those 17-18 players have already been shortlisted: Bangar

Whereas former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar feels that the selection committee has shortlisted around ‘17-18 players’ which includes the senior players who were rested for South Africa and the upcoming Ireland tour along with players who performed well against the Proteas.

“So, some players have been selected in the squad to give them that experience. I believe that the 11 players who have played in this series so far, and the first-team players who are rested, I think those 17-18 players have already been shortlisted (for the T20 World Cup squad),” Bangar said.
