Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia are fighting for justice against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the President of Wrestling federation of India (WFI) for allegedly harassing women’s wrestlers sexually during his time at the top job.
It is to be noted that Sakshi Malik and other top wrestlers have been protesting for more than a month now in Delhi against the WFI and they have accused Chief Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment.
The protesting wrestlers also vowed to sit on a fast at the India Gate in New Delhi until death, after putting their medals in the Ganga on Tuesday evening.
Sakshi Mailk, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia were involved in the skirmish with Delhi Police which saw them all getting detained.
Thousands of police personnel were deployed, and protesters sitting at Jantar Mantar said they will go ahead for the ‘Mahapanchayat’.
Notably, the top Indian wrestlers have alleged sexual exploitation and harassment of women’s wrestlers by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the WFI President.
A Mahapanchayat will be held on May 28 outside the new Parliament building, on the day of its inauguration.
Earlier on Wednesday, Punia said that he is willing to return his medals and other honours if the wrestlers don’t get justice.
Sakshi Malik challenged the BJP MP to undergo a lie detector narco test to prove his innocence.
