Neeraj Chopra is aiming to become only second Indian athlete after Anju Bobby George to bag a medal at the World Athletics Championship.
The reigning Olympic champion started the men's javelin throw Group A qualification round with a massive 88.39m to qualify.
Former long jumper Anju Bobby George is the only Indian to win a medal at the event.
The 10-day tournament will take place between 15-24 July in Eugene, Oregon.
