The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared pictures of its players leaving for rescheduled fifth Test against England. Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja were all seen posing before the camera before they left. Prasidh Krishna, Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur were also seen in the shared pictures. However, there was no sign of the Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

India to take on England on July 1

India are touring England for an all-format series. Although it was supposed to be only a white-ball series comprising 3 T20Is and as many as ODIs. However, as the fifth Test of the 2021 tour could not be held with COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp, it was rescheduled to be held ahead of the white-ball games.

India are leading the five-match Test series 2-1 as they had beaten England in two Tests and lost one while one match had ended in a draw. The first match of the five-match Test series ended in a draw with rain playing a spoilsport. The second one was won by India by a massive 151 runs margin. However, England made a befitting comeback in the third Test as they won it by an inning and 76 runs.

With their backs to the wall, India made a statement as they beat England by 157 runs in the fourth Test to take a 2-1 lead. The team was all set to create history by winning their first Test series in England after 14 long years. But with COVID-19 entering the visitors' camp the fifth match had to be called off. Nonetheless, they will have a chance to make history under a new captain.
