The Day 3 of series-deciding contest between South Africa and India commenced in Cape Town on Thursday in a dramatic style. Although the visitors kicked off the day in a strong position, the tables were turned in few minutes as Marco Jansen dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara (9 off 33) before Kagiso Rabada sent Ajinkya Rahane (1 off 9) back to pavilion.

India were heavily dependent on the two experienced batsmen to show their class in difficult batting conditions but they unfortunately could not produce the magic which they have done a number of times in past. And this was it for the fans on social media!

While some expressed their feelings in form of memes, others came up with sarcastic remarks to sum up the struggles of the two batsmen in recent times.

As Pujara ended the 3-match series with 124 runs (Avg: 20.67) and Rahane scoring 136 runs (Avg: 22.67), the netizens opined that it was time for Team India to look beyond the duo going ahead.

People started a trend on Twitter where they were thanking Pujara and Rahane for their services to the national side, scoring loads of runs for India during their glorious career.

One of the users even went on to state that it was very crucial for India to somehow find a way to win this match in order to bid perfect farewell to Pujara and Rahane.

While the common opinion on internet was that Pujara and Rahane should make way for youngsters like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and even Hanuma Vihari, one of the users claimed that they should go back to play Ranji Trophy so that they can get a fair opportunity to make their way back to Indian side if they perform well in domestic circuit.

India are now scheduled to play their next Test series in Feb-March when they host Sri Lanka. It will be intriguing to see if BCCI and selectors finally take the big call of dropping Pujara and Rahane for the 2-match series. Well, no one knows what the management thinks about the situation but fans have certainly said their goodbyes to the two experienced batsmen.
