The Hundred is a brand new cricket competition introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The tournament in set to get underway on July 21 with both the men and women matches taking place in the competition. There have been quite a few modifications in the traditional rules of the game and it is being looked upon as by many as the format which could well be here to stay.
In the first game of the tournament, Oval Invincibles will be up against Manchester Originals Women. Both the sides have a good bunch of experienced and youth as well as domestic and local players with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur also part of the Manchester setup. Since this is a brand new format fans can take some time to understand the rules but are sure to get entertained as they watch the action unfold.
With this set to be the first match of the tournament and the format itself, there is very little data to choose the fantasy side. Much of the team should pick itself based on T20 experience which 120 balls in an innings. This suggests that the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Marizanne Kapp and Sophie Ecclestone are expected to be the big ticket players for this game. Dane van Niekerk could be yet another option to consider for the captain, vice-captain position in the fantasy side. Although the rules for the actual match will be different, fantasy points system remains the same which implies all-rounders can have a big role bringing the likes of Emma Lamb, Hannah Emily Jones other than Van Niekerk and Kapp coming into the picture. Expect it to be a cracking contest.
