Team India have been under a lot of criticism after their loss against Pakistan and New Zealand. Indian skipper Virat Kohli have been receiving online abuse and threats post India’s dismal performance in the T20 World Cup. The trolls and haters didn’t spare Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and their 9-month-old daughter Vamika. However, amid all this, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lent his support to the Indian skipper.

Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter and backed Virat Kohli. The Congress leader asked Kohli to protect the team and forgive the haters.

“Dear Virat, These people are filled with hate because nobody gives them any love. Forgive them. Protect the team,” Gandhi tweeted.

Earlier today, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent a notice to the Delhi Police asking them to take action against the rape threats that were targeted at Kohli’s daughter. Meanwhile, the accounts from which the obscene threats were sent, have now been deleted.

“It is learnt that he (Kohli) is being also attacked since he spoke against the incessant trolling of his teammate Md Shami, who was targeted for his religion by online trolls… This is a very serious matter and attracts immediate action”, Swati Maliwal, the DCW Chairperson, said.
