One of Frank Lampard’s best work in the 2020-21 season was to acquire the vastly experienced Brazilian defender, Thiago Silva from Paris Saint Germain. Evidently, even after the departure of Lampard, Silva was dedicated to his primary objective to inspire the younger players, until the 36-years-old started suffering from injuries which cut-short his debut English season.

In the UEFA Champions League Final clash against Manchester City, Thiago Silva has been struck with another injury, which he wasn’t able to shake off.

Thiago Silva suffers groin injury and paves way for Andreas Christensen

Thiago Silva jumped in the air in the 36th minute to clear the ball and even got the better of Phil Foden. However, as soon as he landed, Silva seemed to have pulled his groin area and seemed uncomfortable. Although, he did try to wave it off, but it seemed like an end-case for the Brazilian International.

As a result, just 3 minutes later, Silva was replaced by Andreas Christensen in the 39th minute of the first half. Silva could be seen walking off the pitch highly devastated as he hoped to stay till the end to lead the defensive line for his team, in undoubtedly the biggest match of the season for Chelsea.
