As the new IPL rules suggest that a team should bowl their quota of 20 overs within 90 minutes, we have seen multiple times that captains have been fined for slow over rate. The recent was MS Dhoni, who was fined Rs.12 Lakhs for the same. His predecessor however, doesn’t want to meet the same fate as he tells the umpire to hurry up in a cheeky manner.

This 1 minute is taken by you umpire: Rishabh Pant

During the course of the 7th over, the umpire took almost a minute to check whether or not the appropriate number of fielders are outside the circle. That is when Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant cheekily commented - “That one minute is taken by you”. Luckily,  the audio was caught on the stump mic.

Slow over rate is becoming a problem for multiple captains' day-by-day. During the season opener between MI and RCB, both captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma took more than 90 minutes but were not fined.

However, it was good to see how Rishabh Pant was attentive in using his bowling options as well as keeping a check on the time being used to complete a single over.

As of the current scenario, Delhi Capitals seem to be on top as 112/7 with 16 overs getting complete. RR need 44 runs at a required run rate of more than 10.5 runs per over with Chris Morris and Jaydev Unadkat on the crease.
